Pique & Guardiola named Catalan Player & Coach of the Year for 2019

Gerard Pique has been named Catalan Player of the Year for 2019 after an excellent campaign with Barcelona.

The defender won with 67 percent of the total votes, beating Espanyol’s Marc Roca to the prize, who earned 27 percent of the electorate.

Meanwhile, Aitana Bonmati, also of Barcelona, was named the best women’s player of 2019.

Another Blaugrana, Riqui Puig, and Laia Aleixandri of Atletico Madrid, won the Young Player of the Year awards.

Pep Guardiola received the prize for Catalan coach of the year after winning the Premier League with Manchester City, and Xavier Estrada was voted the best referee.

The awards will be presented during the eighth edition of the gala, which will take place on October 14 at the Estrella Damm factory.
